About Phoenix Fantasy

Phoenix Fantasy is a dedicated Fantasy Fiction review site. All reviews are my honest, individual opinion. I am not swayed in any way by publisher’s promises of shiny badges, bookmarks, or give-aways. I have an honours degree in English Literature and am a fully qualified English teacher in the UK for the 11-18 age range.

I will read and review any style of Fantasy, although to give you some idea of my tastes I love Epic, am getting into Urban and YA, and tend not to enjoy PNR, but will try anything once.

“Reading is one form of escape. Running for your life is another.”

I don’t run very fast, but I read like the wind.

If you have a title you’d like me to review, feel free to contact me. My work schedule and family life are hectic, so please give me as much notice as possible if you require a review by a certain date.

All my reviews are pinged out via Twitter & Facebook, and cross-posted to GoodReads. I’m not currently reviewing on Amazon, but am always happy to post on Waterstones.com.

In addition to reading and reviewing Fantasy, I’m also slowly working on a Fantasy debut of my own. It’s been a work in progress for more years than I care to admit, but it’s finally all coming together now. I hope to be launching a separate website soon to track its development and progress. In the meantime, if you’d like to know more, drop me an email.

Hi Phoenix.Fantasy – and thanks for the detailed and thoughtful review of Zenn Scarlett. Couldn’t agree more re: the Argh! Oxford art-gnomes; any novel is lucky to have ’em work their magic. Also: are you aware of Strange Chemistry’s open submission window going on just now? If your novel is ready, so are they. Also… any chance you’d be willing to post your review on Zenn’s Waterstones’ page? (there’s a serious lack of review-ery goin’ on there). Would be intensely grateful. (You’ll be receiving your complementary rikkaset via special delivery shortly…)

It would be my pleasure! I’ll sneakily do it from work first thing in the morning 🙂
