Books of The Shaper, John R Fultz

I owe Orbit Books a lovely big cuddle for hooking me up with a review copy of the second novel in Fultz’s Books of The Shaper series, Seven Kings.

14781151 I’m so behind with my reading at the moment, but I hope to get to this soon as it really does sound right up my alley, as it were.

Beyond the haunted mountains King Vireon confronts a plague of demons bent on destroying his family.” – Yes Please.

If you’d like a taster of this one, you can read the first chapter for free over on Orbit’s website

What with tiny Son’s medical problems, and some horribleness in the Office, I’ve not been reading anywhere near as much as I’d like over the last couple of weeks. With a bit of luck though, and a following wind, I should get Trickster finished tonight, and the review won’t take long as I’ve been cobbling thoughts together as I go.  From now on I think it’s review requests closed, head down, and plough through the backlog.

This weather should help, too bloody cold to do much else!

Seven Princes, as bad as all that?

So I remember this one being completely slated when it came out, but I see the second in the series is due out this month. Was it really as bad as all that? I’m curious to find out. From the blurb it sounds pretty good to me…but then, they’re good like that…blurbs….

10836736“It is an Age of Legends.

Under the watchful eye of the Giants, the kingdoms of Men rose to power. Now, the Giant-King has slain the last of the Serpents and ushered in an era of untold peace and prosperity. Where a fire-blackened desert once stood, golden cities flourish in verdant fields.

It is an Age of Heroes.

But the realms of Man face a new threat– an ancient sorcerer slaughters the rightful King of Yaskatha before the unbelieving eyes of his son, young Prince D’zan. With the Giant-King lost to a mysterious doom, it seems that no one has the power to stop the coming storm.

It is an Age of War.

The fugitive Prince seeks allies across the realms of Men and Giants to liberate his father’s stolen kingdom. Six foreign Princes are tied to his fate. Only one thing is certain: War is coming.”

I think I’m going to have to have a read and see. And if it’s awful, I’ve no one to blame but myself.
